Patrick Choy

Patrick started his hula journey at the University of Hawaii with Hoʻoulu Cambra who taught hula kahiko and oli.  He later studied with Edward Kalahiki (Nā Punahele O Haluakaiamoana) and graduated as an ʻolapa and hoʻopaʻa. For a few years Patrick was the hoʻopaʻa for Leimomi Hoʻs hālau, Kealiʻikaʻapunihonua Keʻena Aʻo Hula. In 1991, he graduated as Kumu Hula under Mae Kamāmalu Klein in a traditional ʻuniki ceremony as part of her Papa Maile Kaluhea.  It was under her guidance that he learned more of the hula kuʻi styling that he teaches today.

In 1993 Patrick opened his hālau, Kalehuaʻapapaneokaʻau out of his home in Pālolo Valley where he continues to teach hula ʻauana, hula kahiko, and oli.
