Professional singer, songwriter, musician, producer since 1980. Born and raised on Moloka’i Hawaii in a traditional Hawaiian household. Graduate of Kamehameha Schools ’80, attended Leeward Community College where he studied “Jazz Ensemble”, with Tommy Arsisto, and 2nd year “Hawaiian Language” with Naomi Losch. He is married with 2 sons, lives currently on ‘O’ahu where he has worked full time for ‘O’ahu Transit Services (The Bus) for the past 22 years. Three of those years as a Temporary Instructor in the company’s Training Department training “New Hire Operators” and other company personnel. Started his recording career in 1986 with his group, Nalu! releasing 4 albums and receiving 3 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards nominations. Has performed extensively throughout Hawaii for many years, done tours in Japan and Mainland U. S. and is looking forward to more opportunities in the near future. He has a vast and intimate knowledge of Hawaiian culture and music along with many years of experience in entertaining, teaching, and sharing with others his mana’o.
He and his wife Welina own and operate “Welina Publishing Co.,” established to administer all rights to the music catalog of Weymouth Kamakana Jr., including songs such as: In Your Hawaiian Way, Ko’olau, Coffee In My Tea, Walked Into Waikiki, and others. Their company also produces audio recordings and publishes music teaching aids for companies and organizations. He has much knowledge in the recording process and industry, and many years of experience in the Commercial and Home Studio recording environments.
